With the decline of landline phones, there came an era of
portable ones, better known as cell phones. Cell phones have gone from a
revolutionary invention to a “must have” device in decade or two. Nowadays,
almost every person owns one, but we usually hear only about their downsides.
However, instead of joining the naysayers, we have decided to do the exact
opposite, and take a closer look at their benefits instead. After all, we can’t
exactly blame misuse on the phones themselves, even if some aspects of owning a
smartphone – for instance, using social media – can be quite addictive.
Features and Functions:
Modern mobile phones, commonly known as smartphones, offer a wide variety of
functions that can actually be very helpful. Every mobile phone comes with many
applications already installed, but if something is missing, you can always
download it in minutes or less. No, we are not talking only about texting and
talking anymore. These phones offer you a whole range of applications, all the
way from a calculator or a game, to a programming and hacking apps – you can
find an app for everything nowadays. Smartphones have advanced light years
passed traditional phones and even early generations of mobile phones. Now,
these devices can serve as a personal assistant. You can also use them for
shopping and ordering food online. All you rely on is a stable internet
connection. And since most of the planet is connected to the world wide
web, there are few limitations to what you
can do.
SIM Cards:
Well, let’s say that without a SIM Card, you wouldn’t be able to text or make
phone calls. A SIM Card is a tiny memory stick containing your phone number. It
also memorizes up to 250 different contacts, so if something is to happen to
your phone, you just take your SIM Card, insert it into a different phone, and
voila, all your contacts are still there. In case of an emergency, this could
come in handy. The only situation in which you don’t need your SIM Card is if
you are using the internet to text and talk with your friends, family, and
coworkers. However, it is wise to have one, because your internet connection
might fail when you need it the most.
WiFi technology:
Thanks to wireless technology, you don’t have to sit at a computer and use a
wired connection exclusively anymore; it is easy to establish a fast and
reliable internet connection on your mobile phone. This means that smartphones
are flexible, people who use them are for the most part always accessible, and
since WiFi infrastructure is cheaper than traditional wired technology, it’s
also much more affordable. Imagine a scenario where you don’t have a SIM Card,
let’s say you somehow broke it, and it’s a life or death situation. If you have
your phone and some WiFi around, you can easily contact someone and let them
know you need help. Comes in handy, doesn’t it?
